Civics Boot Camp

Love Ottawa? Become a CityMaker today!

Synapcity energizes and activates people and institutions to work together as CityMakers.

About Workshop

Our Civics Boot Camp is an interactive and experiential six-week program targeting people who are passionate about Ottawa. It is designed for those who want to know more about how the city works – people who have ideas for positive change but need inspiration, community support and/ or knowledge to make it happen.

Working with new contacts, neighbours, and champions from various sectors such as municipal, no-profit and business institutions, you’ll explore ways to identify and work on issues they are able while interacting with elected officials, city staff, businesses and other civic groups.

Civics Boot Camp is a series of six three-hour evening sessions delivered over six weeks using a combination of in-person workshops and online learning.

  • LEARN civic navigation, engagement, and dialogue, helping you find your voice
  • ACT by working together with the community on what matters to you for your city.

With opportunities to work both in big and small teams, you will use living Ottawa case studies to play with tools, strategies, and resources to advance a city issue.
