Synapcity is looking for a temporary, full-time Project Manager to start immediately.

Update: This position has been filled.

We’re looking for a temporary, full-time project manager to join our team and help us launch 100In1Day Ottawa!

What is 100In1Day?

There’s a limit to the amount of physical change one person or a small group of people can initiate in a city, but what if hundreds of citizens united, each putting in place the projects and changes they want to see in their city all on the same day?

What if organizations and city builders helped support the citizen’s actions by giving them the tools to build capacity and be a part of placemaking in their communities? That is the goal of 100 In 1 Day, a social movement originating from Bogotá, Colombia, which has inspired citizen-driven change on a significant scale, transforming cities over a 24 hour period.

Synapcity is leading the initiative in Ottawa for its first year here in 2017, with support from the United Way.

Synapcity seeks a temporary, full-time Project Manager to join our team to lift 100 In 1 Day off the ground and carry it forward. We offer a fast –paced environment that calls for you to work independently, be resourceful and think on your feet. You are passionate about our values and mission and can act as an ambassador for Synapcity in all your interactions with participants, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting and managing of volunteers
  • Planning and delivery of workshops in neighbourhoods across the city (over 12 weeks)
  • Establishing and managing partnerships
  • Communication and promotion of the initiative, including social media, writing press-releases and blog posts and overseeing design of promotional materials.
  • Raising awareness of the event
  • Working with stakeholders

  • Post-secondary education in Project Management, Public Relations, Communication or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills: Speak, listen and write in a clear, confident, respectful, thorough and timely manner
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, including people facing multiple barriers
  • Strong understanding of Ottawa, community, and services offered
  • Personal vehicle and laptop
  • Bilingualism an asset
